Adams Electric director elected to national cooperative board
S. Eugene “Gene” Herritt, of Shippensburg, has been elected Pennsylvania’s delegate on the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) board.
Herritt, a member of the Gettysburg-based Adams Electric Cooperative since 1985, was seated at the 2018 NRECA annual meeting in Nashville, Tenn., in February. He will represent Pennsylvania on the national board for two-years and replaces Lanny Rodgers, a director with Northwestern Rural Electric Cooperative.
Herritt has been an Adams member since 1976. He was Adams board president from 1993 to 2007 and served on many board committees. He is currently a member and past chair of the Pa. Rural Electric Association (PREA) board of directors. He chairs the Adams Utility Services Cooperative (AUSCO), Adams’ for-profit subsidiary; and serves on the board for Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Services Co. (MACS) that does business as Aero Energy through a partnership of Adams, Choptank Electric Cooperative and employee owners.
Herritt is a Credentialed Cooperative Director and holds both the Board Leadership Certificate and Director Gold Certificate from NRECA. Herritt has served in a leadership capacity on several local boards and with The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania F&AM. He is currently involved as a member of the Shippensburg University Council of Trustees.
